About us

The CESPF hosts three major lines of research, dealing respectively with Ethics, Applied Ethics, and with Social & Political Philosophy.

Aims & Scope

The Centre for Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy (CESPF) co-ordinates all research concerning ethics, applied ethics, social & political philosophy, and philosophy of law at the Institute of Philosophy. Given the complexity of this vast area of philosophical inquiry, the research at the CESPF is not directed by a single encompassing research programme, but consists of a number of clearly identifiable and closely interrelated lines of research. In each of them only some of its members are actively engaged, while maintaining multiple and various forms of cooperation with researchers at home and abroad.

The CESPF hosts three major lines of research, dealing respectively with foundational issues such as the analysis of the moral experience in Ethics; with topical questions like health-care and migration in Applied Ethics, and with the quest for democratic community building in Social & Political Philosophy.

In addition to their research activities, the members of the CESPF also aim at contributing to the public debate by participating in the discussion concerning ethical and socio-political issues.
