Second Annual Graduate Student Conference 2012

Welcome to the website of the Graduate Student Conference at the HIW. We cordially invite you to this year’s conference, to be held March 23.

Graduate students at the HIW may submit abstracts to graduate.conference@hiw.kuleuven.be. You may present on a topic of your choice; we only ask that presentations be of a philosophic theme. While there is only the possibility for graduate students at the HIW to present work at the conference, all are invited and encouraged to attend the talks and participate in discussions.

The Graduate Student Conference is held over one day in the early spring of each year and brings together graduate students from diverse academic backgrounds to present their research projects. Presenters are assigned to panels according to the topic they are presenting on, and a professor in the respective field chairs these panels. After all of the speakers have presented, there is an opportunity for the audience to ask questions, and for the chair to provoke further discussion.

Following the day’s events, attendants gather to listen to a talk by our guest speaker. This year, we are proud to present Professor Nicholas de Warren as the guest speaker. Refreshments are provided throughout, and there is a reception at the end of the day.

Graduate students at the HIW, in consultation with faculty, organize the Graduate Student Conference. We thank those—faculty members and students—who have given their time to bring this event to fruition. We hope you will attend the 2012 Graduate Student Conference.
