Faculty Life: NFK

NFKThe Philosophy Students Association at the HIW called the 'Nieuwe Filosofische Kring' or the NFK provides various means of encouragement to both Belgian and international students at the Institute. Focusing on the importance of community in scholarly life, it seeks to provide academic support and to give the opportunity for social contact outside of the classroom. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact the NKF at pr@nfk.be.

Campus and City Life

campusStudying at the Institute also means studying at the KU Leuven and living in Leuven. KU Leuven has an excellent page on campus life and student services.

The website of the City of Leuven provides tourist information in English or French.

Computer and Network Services

ictThe KU Leuven Computer and Network Services deserve special attention. Even philosophers can't do without computers.
You can connect your own computer to the internet (Kotnet) or go to one of the computer classrooms. Wireless CampusNet access is available in all the buildings of the Institute.

Registered students are provided with a student e-mail address with the following format: firstname.surname@student.kuleuven.be. You can check this address anywhere using KU Leuven webmail.

To make use of these facilities you need an intranet userid and a password. On the back of your student card, you can find your intranet userid ('Gebruikersnummer'). Setting a password can be done using activate.kuleuven.be, with the activation code you'll find on the scratch card you received upon registration.
