Om de interactie tussen studenten te bevorderen en om inkomende studenten een handje te helpen, promoten we dit jaar het buddy-programma. Daarom moedigen we alle studenten die reeds een jaar in Leuven zijn (internationale en Vlaamse studenten) aan om buddy van een inkomende student te worden. In het voorbije jaar waren er ongeveer 30 inkomende studenten die een buddy aanvroegen. We konden slechts 7 van deze studenten een buddy van binnen de faculteit geven. Het komende jaar zullen we de inkomende studenten nog meer warm maken voor het buddy-programma en hopen op ongeveer 50 geïnteresseerden. Het plan is elk van deze inkomende studenten een Vlaamse én een internationale buddy te geven, vermits zij de inkomende student elk op verschillende wijze kunnen bijstaan.

Als je wenst buddy te worden, volg dan deze link en schrijf je in via het officiële formulier van het buddy-programma van het International Office van de KU Leuven. Wanneer je het formulier hebt ingevuld, krijg je een automatische mail die je de mogelijkheid geeft te kiezen tussen meerdere inkomende studenten. Gelieve deze mail voorlopig te negeren. We zullen je tijdens de zomer en aan het begin van het volgende jaar terug contacteren om je in contact te brengen met een inkomende filosofiestudent.

Candidate buddies [English]
In an effort to bring students closer together we encourage every student who has been in Leuven for more than a year (international as well as Flemish) to become the buddy of an incoming student. In the previous year there were some 30 incoming philosophy students who wanted a buddy, only 7 of them got a buddy from inside the faculty of philosophy. This year we are going to make incoming students more aware of the buddy-program and expect some 50 interested students. The plan is to give all these students a Flemish and an international buddy, because Flemish and international students can help the incoming students with different things.
How to become a buddy
If you are interested in becoming a buddy, please follow this link and fill in the form of the International Office of the KU Leuven. When you have completed the form, you’ll get an e-mail which asks you to choose between different incoming students. Please ignore this e-mail from the International Office. During the summer and at the beginning of the year we will contact you again in order to team you up with your incoming philosophy student.

Life in a new place has its surprises and challenges: those who have been through them are here to help! Apart from studying philosophy there are no further requirements for getting a buddy. You can sign up to the buddy-program all year long. We will do the matching at several moments in the year (one in July for the early arrivals in Leuven; one in September for the late arrivals; and one in January for the second semester Erasmus students). Since the academic year 2012-2013 we are making an extra effort to give every incoming philosophy student a Flemish and an international buddy who also studies philosophy. Both of them can help you with different questions.
