Sylvia Wenmackers started as a BOF Research Professor at KU Leuven in October 2014. She is a philosopher of science and a physicist, currently working on topics in philosophy of physics, foundations of probability, and formal epistemology. She is a member of the Jonge Academie (JA), The National Centre for Research in Logic (NCNL/CNRL), and of the Foundational Questions Institute (FQXi).

In May 2011, she obtained a Ph.D. in Philosophy (cum laude) from the University of Groningen for her dissertation "Philosophy of Probability". Previously, she obtained a Ph.D. in Physics (2008, Hasselt University, Belgium).
